THE CAVE OF MYSTERY BACKGROUND
Bob and Joy gathered their grandchildren together for an annual Kuzin’s Kamp. The purpose was to enable the cousins who lived in different states to connect with one another. The grandchildren had to be at least five years old to attend. At times, there were six to seven young folks. One of our concerns was, “what do we do if it rains to keep these kids entertained so the house isn’t destroyed?”
Bob started writing a mystery and read a chapter of it to the kids. They loved it and asked “what happens next?” So another chapter was written. The grandchildren grew, Kuzin’s Kamp was replaced with the grandchildren’s own activities of football, horseback riding, wrestling, basketball, and volleyball. So the early stages of the mystery were dormant for a number of years.
Nearing retirement, Bob picked it up again, attended Christian Writer’s Conferences, read a number of books, and continued to develop the plot and characters. The result is, The Cave of Mystery.
